The amount of collagen and elastin can be increased by 400% after four microneedling treatments!
Microneedling: How does it work? By creating microchannels and microinjuries, the procedure sends signals that allow topical molecules (which are normally too large to penetrate the epidermis) to enter the basal layer. The wound cascade is stimulated by micro-injuries to the dermis. Dermal collagen and elastin are remodeled as a result. Melanin and waste are redistributed by poking keratinocytes, which release cytokines (chemical messengers). Additionally, the skin's barrier function isn't compromised, so it's a win-win!!!
